Wow I am blown away by blogs. The description of what they are on this wiki page is excellent and it gave me a really understanding of them. Having to start some where led me to a google search which provided me with 28,500,000 sites to browse. And what a browse it turned out to be. The list is endless as are the hours one could spend researching them all.To help narrow my search down I went to Yahoo and entered 'blogs for learning in NZ schools' which luckily then only left me 335,000 to browse through!!!
There are endless sites providing information for creating blogs personal and free for example www.cooeey.com/blog , personal sites that will publish photos and movies online www.diino.com and even a New Zealand site www.Blog.com where you are able to share your mind with your friends. Any person can create a Blog - a friend of mine created her blog site and updated it regularly when she travelled overseas. It was an interesting site to visit as not only did you experience her visits but you could keep in touch as well.

A paticularly interesting site was www.bgblogging/2007/01/learning which provided an insight from a teaching perspective. There are other blogs which provide all sorts of teaching and learning materials for example take a look at www.sitesforteachers.com.
Another useful site where teachers could add useful links to learning resources is www.eduforge.org/wiki/wiki/eduforge/?pagename=LearningResources . This site is well worth a look. Another useful site for teachers is www.teachers.work.co.nz/research.htm

From a learning perspective blog sites for e-learning seem to be popular elearning blog sites help people create e learning tools. E protfolois are blogs created to discuss ideas about electronic copied pages etc.To find some useful information on e learning in schools I would suggest looking at www.e-learningdentre.co.uk/eclipse/Resources/schools.htm .

A site called mlearning teaches students how to stream live or pre-recorded materials to mobile phones for educational use to find out more go to www.mlearning.rave.ac.uk/mlearning
There are also blog sites which are designed to focus on proffessional development at www.consultuk.com you are able to learn about risk management. I found that most of the sites would be better suited to teacheruse and professional development as opposed to actually using with children , especially younger children which I work with.
It was interesting to see Hutt Valley high School's homework blogs site. No excuse for parents not to know what their children are meant to be doing or students saying they've got no homework.Go to www.hvhs.school.nz/ and follow the homework blogs lead.
